6 Easy Organized Mom Habits to Begin Right Now- Just in Time for Mother’s Day

I once saw a meme that Beyonce has the same 24 hours in a day that I do. Although this was supposed to inspire me to grab life by the horns and magically become the perfect wife, mother, and boss lady, I often times fall short.

What gives? As a work from home mother of two, I know how hard some days can be. So if you’re trying to stay on top of everything and feeling frustrated by it, I know how you feel and I am here to help. You may not have a team of people helping you out at home, but with the right plan you can be a MORE ORGANIZED and LESS STRESSED mamma.

To help you, I have six easy habits to help you be more organized every day.

I am NOT a morning person and can definitely sympathize with any mom out there that wants to squeeze every moment of precious sleep before your alarm clock goes off, but having a morning routine can set up the WHOLE family for a more productive and successful day. Getting into a morning routine that works for everyone can take time, but don’t be discouraged and just adjust until everyone finds their flow.

The nighttime is just as important as your morning for setting you up for success. Your morning routine helps you start your day feeling organized and the nighttime routine helps you finish out the day the same way.

I am a huge believer in lists. Keeping track of everyone’s schedule and the weekly responsibilities can become overwhelming. There is just so much to accomplish each week! I frequently have a list that is ongoing for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.

Now that you have your options for to-do lists, the next step is to decide where to keep them. There are so many options ranging from a traditional paper set up like a notebook or planner to an app like 24me.

I find it can useful to utilize something other than the traditional paper method. Don’t get me wrong, I love my planner and use it for my day to day planning, but I also like to use other methods that can be easily accessed by other people in my family. We utilize the Amazon Alexas in our home for keeping track of the grocery list and even setting timers to remind us to switch the laundry. I find that the list and reminder function on this app is helpful for everyone to add things to the shopping list; this list can easily be accessed by my husband who loves to go grocery shopping.

After you have picked your planning tool, set up your to-do list in order of importance. This way, when you work down your daily list, if there is something that is not accomplished it was something that was not time sensitive and you won't feel stressed pushing it aside until tomorrow.

Meal planning is a fantastic way to stay healthy while saving time and money. You can meal plan weekly or even monthly which helps to keep your whole family focused on eating healthier and intentionally spending more time together as a family.

Money can be a super stressful topic for any family. Why not extend some of your organizational calm by streamlining your budgeting? Below are some great tips to keep your finances in check.

When I got my planner for the year, I upgraded to an hourly schedule and have been utilizing time blocking. I love the difference this has made in my day because it has increased my productivity.

Time blocking is a simple system of breaking up your day into chunks that have specific tasks assigned to that time.

In my own day, I have blocks in the morning for playtime and housework while my baby is awake. In the afternoon, I have blocks for lunch, nap time, home schooling and homework, and finally I have some time in the afternoon for work. Depending on the day, I also make sure to block in family time and extracurriculars.

The system itself is pretty simple and it helps to keep me focused on the task at hand while still accomplishing my plans for the day. Set a timer for yourself to keep you aware of when it is time to move on to the next item on your list.

I hope you enjoyed the 6 Easy Organized Mom Habits to Begin Right Now. I have used all of these in my own life to keep my house running a bit smoother. If you're a mother too, what's your piece of advice to staying organized? Drop a comment and tell me about it.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommas out there doing an amazing job raising wonderful children.
